Hello New Year!

Shame on me. I never did take a minute to publicly thank you for such an amazing first season. From the day our doors opened in September, we have been blessed with a stream of lovely, enthusiastic customers, admirers, and kindred spirits.

I must confess, we didn’t know you were out there….

Good thing this isn’t a countdown of News Years resolutions, or I’d be off to a shaky start!  Nothing like trying to hang a new show, decorate the shop for the holidays, provide excellent customer service *wink*, AND start a new habit of daily journal entries all at once!  Ha!
So, to make it up to you, I’m going for TWO features in one day!  I’ll post the Day One item now, and Day Two tomorrow morning!  So, all day Wednesday, you can have 5% off of TWO fabulous artists’ wonderful …

25 Gifts for a Handmade Holiday: Introduction

Over Thanksgiving weekend, I pulled out a book that I snatched up at a shop somewhere in my travels as a sales rep called “The Book of New Family Traditions.” It is filled with ideas, old and new, for how to bring more meaning and ceremony into our daily and seasonal lives. Flipping through the myriad of clever ideas for every holiday and circumstance you can think of, I am particularly taken by the section on Advent calendars. Each year, we struggle to put more meaning into the holidays for our children…

New Exhibition: Sewing Circle

I am very pleased to announce our second themed gallery exhibition, Sewing Circle.  I have been enchanted by the wave of embroidered and cross-stitched art that has been popping up in the crafty community over the past few years.  The pieces in this collection juxtopose seemingly familiar domestic arts with a modern longing for connection, gender roles, and personal discovery.

HOO’s ready for fall?

Ok, I was really torn about whether or not to make a cute owl pun, but late night posting makes for weak restraint…
It was another long and busy week at the shop, with many new faces and loads of sweet words and excited customers.  Last Saturday was West Reading’s Fall Fest, and the crowds were fantastic!  I am pleased as punch at the wonderful exposure and traffic we have received already.
Today started out chilly but perfectly September.  I, for one, will be sad to see the long days and warm …

The Best Things In Life Aren’t Things | Made by Julene
Sent this amazing artist a note tonight, with fingers crossed and double-crossed that she’ll be a part of our shop!  Either way, her work is simply stunning, and  will find a way onto my family’s walls one way or another, someday.

Happy Bluebird, happy me.

It’s a blustery Friday: seems like the natural world has fully embraced September in a matter of days–incredible.  Rain+September seems to make for a quiet Friday, but I thought I’d spread some cheer into the day with the above found art assemblage by The Constant Gardener, who I discovered while waiting a final few moments to pick up my son from his FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL!

So, in celebration of Preschool, and good music (Imogene Heap playing right now…mmm), September showers, and the weekend upon us, I thought I’d post this cute little …
